Mandap hire in Kent

White floral mandap with gold pillars set for an outdoor Hindu wedding ceremony

Kent offers orchards, downland, historic estates and easy reach of south-east London, which is why so many couples look here for their wedding. Our mandap hire in Kent brings a beautifully made ceremony space to oast-house barns, country houses, riverside hotels and orchard marquees, and our own crew brings it, builds it and takes it away again.

Hindu weddings in the Garden of England

Kent borders south-east London, and for families in Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and Lewisham it is the natural place to look for a venue with more space. Along the Thames in the north-west of the county, Dartford and Gravesend have had settled Indian and Sikh communities for generations, so large Asian weddings are an everyday part of life in those towns.

Further south and east the county opens into the North Downs, the Weald and miles of farmland and orchards. Country estates, walled gardens and converted oast houses give Kent weddings a character all of their own, and they make a striking backdrop for a traditional Hindu ceremony.

The venues you will find across Kent

Kent's wedding venues cover a wide range, and each type shapes the mandap a little differently:

  • Large hotels and Asian banqueting halls along the A2 corridor and the M20 towards Maidstone, built for big guest lists and lorry-friendly loading bays.
  • Manor houses in the Weald and on the North Downs, many with walled gardens that suit an outdoor mandap.
  • Converted oast houses and hop barns, where roundels and low beams make it essential to measure before choosing a design.
  • Golf clubs on the edges of Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone, with a clubhouse suite and fairway views.
  • Marquees in private gardens, orchards and estate parkland.

Choosing a mandap style for Kent

In a hotel ballroom, many couples want a mandap that fills the stage with colour and detail, and our traditional designs and The Kesar are made for exactly that. Among the orchards and walled gardens, a floral canopy of peonies, roses or seasonal Kentish blooms can feel completely at home against lawns and old brick.

Barns and oast-style venues bring a different challenge. Timber beams and brick walls are beautiful, but they can limit height, so a cleaner design from our minimal collection may suit better than a tall canopy. We always check the room before recommending a style, so the mandap looks intentional rather than squeezed in, and leaves comfortable space for the priest, family and photographer.

Outdoor ceremonies need a little more thought in the UK climate. Our article on outdoor mandaps and UK weather explains how we plan for sun, wind and rain alike.

Practicalities: travel, access and fire rules

Bexley and Bromley are London boroughs, but once you cross into Kent proper the ULEZ and Congestion Charge fall away. Guests from Essex or north of the Thames will usually come over the Dartford Crossing, which is paid online, and the M25, M20, M26 and A2 can all slow to a crawl on summer Saturdays when traffic heads for the coast, so building in travel time is wise.

A ballroom near the A2 rarely raises space questions, but oast houses, tithe barns and manor drawing rooms often do. We ask each venue for the floor area available, typically somewhere between a three-metre and a five-metre square once guests are seated around the mandap, and the height to the lowest beam, which needs to be three metres or more. Then we agree a few hours' access and the route our vans will take, which on Wealden estates can mean narrow lanes. Garden designs stand on weighted bases with an indoor fallback arranged in advance. For the havan, we check the venue's fire rules early, because many listed and timber-framed buildings in the county do not allow an open flame and need a symbolic alternative.

Kent areas we cover

Our vans travel from the Thames estuary to the Weald, and the journey is part of the hire wherever you marry in the county. Booking your Kent mandap

Because Kent venues range from oast houses to grand ballrooms, we price each mandap around its design, flowers and setting rather than from a fixed list. You are welcome to view the mandaps by appointment, and paying one quarter of the quote reserves your wedding day. To start planning your ceremony, get in touch with our team and tell us where and when you are marrying.

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover the whole of Kent?

From Gravesend and Dartford down to Tunbridge Wells and out towards Canterbury, our crew brings the mandap, sets it up and later collects it at no extra transport cost.

Can we hold our ceremony outdoors in Kent?

Yes. A Kentish lawn or orchard can make a lovely setting; the mandap stands on weighted feet so nothing is driven into the ground, and we agree with the venue where the ceremony moves if it rains.

Are Kent venues inside the ULEZ?

No. The zones stop at the Greater London boundary, so towns such as Dartford and Sevenoaks fall outside both the ULEZ and the Congestion Charge.
