Floral Mandap Ideas for a Romantic Ceremony
By Book a Mandap ·
Few things feel as romantic as marrying beneath a canopy of flowers. A floral mandap brings colour, fragrance and softness to your Hindu wedding ceremony, and it can be styled to suit anything from a grand ballroom to a garden marquee. Here are some of our favourite floral mandap ideas to inspire your planning.
Why flowers matter in a Hindu wedding mandap
Flowers have long been part of Hindu wedding traditions. Garlands are exchanged during the jaimala, petals are offered during rituals and blessings, and marigolds, roses and jasmine appear in ceremonies across many communities. Their use and meaning vary by region and family, so your floral choices can also be a way of honouring your heritage.
In design terms, flowers soften the structure of the mandap and frame the couple beautifully. They also bring the ceremony to life in photographs, adding texture and depth that fabric alone cannot achieve. See our full range of floral mandaps for inspiration.
Floral mandap ideas to inspire you
There is no single way to dress a floral mandap. These ideas can be used on their own or combined to create something entirely personal.
- Hanging garlands: strands of marigold, rose or jasmine cascading from the canopy for a traditional, textured look
- Full floral canopy: a ceiling of blooms overhead, creating an immersive and intimate space
- Floral pillar wraps: flowers climbing each pillar for a soft, garden-inspired feel
- Asymmetric arrangements: lush clusters on two corners for a contemporary, editorial finish
- Floral aisle: matching arrangements lining the bride's entrance to draw the eye towards the mandap
- Petal floor details: scattered petals or a rangoli-style design around the base, where the venue permits
Choosing blooms and colours
Start with the mood you want. Blush roses, peonies and white hydrangeas create a soft, romantic look, while marigolds, deep red roses and orchids feel vibrant and celebratory. Ivory and green palettes are timeless and work well in almost any venue.
Think about how your flowers relate to your outfits and the rest of your styling. A bride in red may love a mandap of ivory and blush to stand out against, while a pastel lehenga might pair beautifully with peach and soft pink tones. Our guide to choosing a mandap colour palette explores this further.
- Soft romantic: blush, peach, ivory and dusty pink
- Classic traditional: marigold, red, orange and gold
- Timeless elegant: white, cream and lush greenery
- Rich jewel tones: deep red, magenta and burgundy
Fresh or premium faux flowers?
We offer both fresh and premium faux florals, and each has its advantages. Fresh flowers bring natural fragrance and a delicate, living quality that many couples love. Premium faux flowers have come a long way; they look beautiful, hold their shape throughout a long day and are not affected by heat or time out of water.
Many designs use a mix, with fresh blooms where guests will see them up close and faux flowers in high or hard-to-reach places such as the canopy. Read more in our comparison of fresh vs artificial flowers for mandaps.
Making floral designs work in your venue
Large floral canopies need adequate ceiling clearance, typically around 3m to 4m for most mandaps, and enough room around the structure for guests and the priest to move comfortably. Some venues have rules about fresh petals on the floor or fixings to ceilings, so check these early.
For outdoor ceremonies, flowers need extra thought. Hardier blooms and secure fixings help in breezy conditions, and every outdoor design should have a wet-weather plan. Lighting also transforms florals in the evening, so consider how your mandap will look as daylight fades.
Bringing your floral mandap to life
The most memorable floral mandaps feel personal, reflecting your story, your culture and the setting you have chosen. Gather images you love, note the colours that appear again and again, and bring them to a consultation. Viewings are available by appointment, and every design is quoted individually.

Frequently asked questions
Can I choose my own flowers for the mandap?
Yes. Floral designs are tailored to each wedding, so you can share your preferred blooms, colours and style and the team will advise on what works best for your venue and season.
Will fresh flowers last through the whole ceremony?
Fresh flowers are usually added later in the installation so they look their best for the ceremony. In warm conditions or long events, premium faux florals can be used alongside them.
